FAQs

  • Modern film labs focus on the digital files produced by film, meaning the physical integrity of negatives is less important, as artifacts like dust, stains, scratches, and fingerprints are removable thanks to Digital ICE technology in scanners. Photo Spectrum focuses on the functionality of negatives in the darkroom for prints, meaning extra precautions are necessary to ensure high-quality negatives.

Secondly, every roll of film is granted a free contact print. Paper and chemicals cost money!

Lastly, rolls of film developed at Photo Spectrum enjoy cheaper prices for prints. :)

  • C-41: Scans will be available within 2-3 day. For collection of your negatives and contact print, please expect at least 2 day after receiving your scans.

B&W: Please expect 5-8 days for B&W processes, as not a lot of people shoot black and white, I bulk process them where possible.

Drop-off Prints: You may expect prints to be ready within 5-8-days of dropping off your film.

Guided Printing sessions: You will be going home with your prints in hand on the day!

  • Darkroom printing can only print photos from film negatives. Reversal film/Slide film/Positive film cannot be used.

This is primarily a color darkroom, although B&W films can also be used, please understand the process is not true black and white paper.
